Mucosal healing is not associated with better outcome during 7 years of follow-up in pediatric patients with Crohn's disease

Background Mucosal healing (MH) has become a perspective treatment target in patients with Crohn's disease (CD). Data about the impact of MH on long-term outcome pediatric are still scarce. Methods 76 CD were evaluated retrospectively (2000-2015) tertiary care center. Based achievement, they divided into two groups (MH, n= 17; and No MH, n=59). The primary endpoint was to assess association need for CD-related hospitalizations or surgery CD. Results number hospitalized 24% group 42% group, P = 0.26. total not significant between (5 vs. 41, 0.15). time first hospitalization 24 months 21 P>0.99. 39% underwent operation, 0.39. Time operation 43 19 0.13. follow-up period 91 80 0.74. use infliximab positively associated 0.002. Conclusions fewer operations during seven years follow-up.
